Someone's FatherYou remember McDonnell Douglas, creators of such legendary aircraft as the DC-3, the F-4, the F-15, the DC-10, and the Delta II Rocket? This campaign was designed to instill corporate patriotism among the tens of thousands of McDAC employees. When the spots were shown to 10,000 engineers in the vast McD hangar in St Louis, there was not a dry eye in the house.

It was so successful that McDonnell Douglas's fiercest rival, Boeing, was moved to merge with it—tears in its own eyes, of course. The new merged company’s name? Boeing.
